About this spot

Located in Itabashi, Tsukubamirai City, this temple belongs to the Buzan sect of Shingon Buddhism and has roughly 1,200 years of history since its founding. The standing statue of Fudo Myoo flanked by two child attendants, the principal image of worship, is a National Important Cultural Property, and the main hall, three-story pagoda, and tower gate are designated Cultural Properties of Ibaraki Prefecture. Known affectionately as Itabashi's Fudo-san, it has long been visited by worshippers from across the Kanto region praying for safe childbirth and children's healthy growth. In the quiet, greenery-filled grounds, pray for a safe and successful Tsunabi performance later that night.

Tips

It's convenient to travel here by car from Kirakuyama Fureai-no-Oka. Admission is free. In summer, it's also a good idea to rest in the shade of the trees on the grounds.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. During hours of strong sunlight, the shade on the grounds keeps things cool.
