This is the shopping street area near Goshogawara Station, close to Tachi Neputa no Yakata, lined with local diners and soba shops. On the evening of the festival, it gradually fills with people in yukata, and a restless excitement before the main event begins to spread through the whole town. Since there's time before the 7:00 PM start, it's a good idea to have a relaxed dinner here before heading to your viewing spot.
Tips
Traffic restrictions begin in the surrounding area from the evening on the day of the festival, so if you're coming by car, secure parking early. Finishing your meal by around 5:00 PM makes getting around afterward smoother.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. The latter half of the 4:00 PM hour is easier to get a seat, before the dinner rush.
