About this spot
The 2026 Susaki Festival is held over two days, Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, centered around Fujigahama Beach (富士ヶ浜) in Susaki City. The highlight of the first night is an offshore fireworks display set on Susaki Bay (須崎湾), with launches from around 8:00 to 9:00 PM. The sound of fireworks echoing off the mountains surrounding the bay, together with giant bursts of light filling the night sky, color the summer in Susaki. On the second day, a dragon canoe race featuring powerful paddling competitions is held from morning, with shouts and cheers echoing across the bay. The powerful fireworks, made all the more striking by the seaside location, are one of the Susaki Festival's biggest draws.
Season & hours
Name: 須崎まつり
Date & time: 8/1 (Sat)–8/2 (Sun) Time TBA
Venue: 須崎市・富士ヶ浜ほか(海上花火大会/ドラゴンカヌー大会)
Tips
The area around the venue gets very crowded on the day, and parking lots fill up early, so public transportation or early arrival is recommended for peace of mind. It can get cool by the sea at night, so bring something to layer. In case of bad weather, the fireworks display is scheduled to be postponed to Saturday, August 29, so check the organizer's announcement on the day. The return trip can be congested, so allow yourself plenty of time.
Best time to visit
Fireworks launch from around 8:00 to 9:00 PM. The time after dark is the most spectacular.
