About this spot

This street still preserves the townscape of samurai residences where the retainers of the Aki clan once lived during the domain era. Rammed-earth walls and hedges of doyou bamboo and ubame oak line the street, vividly conveying the atmosphere of the Edo period. You can enjoy a leisurely historical stroll through the quiet townscape.

Tips

It's within walking distance of Nora Dokei. Since the street includes private residences, please refrain from entering the properties and limit your visit to viewing the exteriors. Some sections have little shade in summer, so remember to stay hydrated.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. The calm hours in the early afternoon are well suited for a stroll.
