The 2026 Aki Citizens' Summer Festival takes place over two days, Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2. On the first day, August 1, a dance parade is held throughout the city from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m., with local groups and dancers parading along the streets, brightening the summer evening in Aki City. The following day, August 2, features a dance competition at the health and wellness center “Genkikan” and a fireworks display of about 3,000 fireworks (starting at 8:10 p.m.) launched from the coast in front of the former Kochi Prefectural Aki Junior and Senior High School (Seiwa Campus). This festival, in which the whole community comes together to enjoy summer, is unique to Aki City.

Tips

People may start claiming spots along the parade route from daytime, so early arrival is recommended. Traffic restrictions are in place around the venue, so using public transportation is a safe choice. Temperatures can drop at night, so bring something to layer on.

Best time to visit

From the 4:30 p.m. parade start. The parade after 6 p.m., once the sun has set, is also worth seeing.
