A park developed on a promontory jutting out into Makurazaki's coast, where you can get an up-close view of Tatejin Rock, a strange rock formation rising majestically toward the sea. The silhouette of this pointed rock, also called the "Fuji of Southern Satsuma," is one of the landscape icons of Makurazaki, and from the observation plaza, you can get a panoramic view of the blue expanse of the East China Sea. With grassy areas available, it's an ideal spot for a break before the festival or for family commemorative photos. The sea breeze is pleasant, making it a relatively comfortable high point even during hot periods.

2026年の「さつま黒潮きばらん海枕崎港まつり」は8月1日(土)・2日(日)の12時から22時まで、枕崎港周辺を会場に開催されます。このコースでは、まつりが始まる初日を主役に据えて1日を組み立てました。日本有数の鰹節の産地であり、遠洋漁業の基地としても知られる枕崎港一帯が、まつりの間は普段とは違うにぎわいに包まれます。正午の開幕から夜22時の終了まで長い時間開かれているので、日中の涼しい時間に立ち寄ることも、夕方から夜にかけてじっくり過ごすことも、家族のペースで選べるのがこのまつりの魅力です。会場の明かりが灯る夕方以降は、港町ならではの穏やかな夜の雰囲気を楽しめます。

Tips

会場周辺は当日交通規制や駐車場の混雑が予想されるため、時間に余裕を持って向かいましょう。屋台の有無や当日の催し内容は、会場の案内板や公式情報で確認するのが確実です。小さな子ども連れは、日中の涼しい時間帯から訪れると無理なく過ごせます。夜は海沿いで風が涼しくなることがあるので、羽織るものがあると安心です。

Tips

From the parking lot to the observation plaza, you'll walk on a short pathway. Since there are areas without railings, hold small children's hands while viewing. In summer, there is little shade, so don't forget to bring water and a hat.
