About this spot

This is the old town of Gotsu, which prospered through river transport on the Gonokawa River. Along the streets once lined with shipping merchants and trading houses, old-fashioned buildings still remain here and there, offering a quiet walk through town. It's not a flashy tourist spot, but a calm place to stroll and feel the history of a town that developed alongside a great river. On a summer afternoon, it's just the right area for a leisurely walk at a slower pace.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Michi-no-Eki Sun-Pico Gotsu. The streets are flat and easy to walk, but there's little shade in summer, so a parasol or hat is reassuring to have. It's convenient to travel by car to the next stop, the Gonokawa riverside park.
