About this spot

This roadside station is located in Minami-Yamashiro Village, the only village in Kyoto Prefecture. At the direct-sales area, Nomon Ichiba (のもん市場), you'll find vegetables and tea grown by villagers along with homemade bento boxes, and at the village food hall, Tsuchi no Ubu (つちのうぶ), you can enjoy tea-country meals such as a full tea-themed set meal, village curry, and tea rice porridge (chagayu). The village matcha soft-serve is also a local specialty. It's a convenient stop to eat a proper meal and stock up on drinks before river play.

Tips

It's conveniently located on the way to Kasagi Campground. During summer vacation it can get crowded around lunchtime, so visiting a bit earlier lets you eat in a more relaxed atmosphere.
