The Gujo Hachiman Former Town Hall Memorial Hall (郡上八幡旧庁舎記念館) is a tourist hub housed in a wooden town hall from the early Showa era, containing restaurants serving Gujo's local cuisine and specialities as well as souvenir shops. It sits on the bank of the Yoshida River (吉田川), an ideal location for a break in the middle of a town walk. There are also corners with exhibits on the Gujo Odori dance and other local culture, so you can combine a meal with sightseeing. Refuel properly here for the afternoon of water play.
Tips
It is a short walk from the old townscape. It can get crowded at lunchtime, so allow plenty of time. The building is wooden and has some steps, so take care when moving around with a stroller.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. A good slot for a proper rest after walking the town.
