About this spot

A park laid out on the site of Kariya Castle (刈谷城) and long loved by local residents. The water surface of the moat and the shape of the earthworks remain, and imagining how the castle was built as you walk is the fun of it. There is also playground equipment and an open space inside, so children may well be more absorbed in running around than in history. It is known for its cherry blossoms too, and its face changes with the seasons. Walking here while overlaying the Kariya Castle materials you saw at the museum onto the terrain that actually survives makes the history of this land easier for children to grasp.

Tips

Some spots have little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks. Parts of the moatside have no railing, so hold small children's hands as you walk. Keeping it to a light walk in the morning leaves everyone with energy for the afternoon water play.

About 45 minutes. The morning, when the sunlight is gentler, is recommended
