The Gyokudo Art Museum (玉堂美術館) displays works by Kawai Gyokudo, a Japanese-style painter who loved the scenery of Mitake Valley. It sits in a calm location along the valley, and inside you can view at leisure works depicting nature through the four seasons. The exhibition rooms are compact, a scale that can be covered comfortably even with small children. It is a perfect place for spending quiet time in the middle of a valley walk.
Tips
It is within walking distance of Mitake Station and easy to drop into from the valley walking path. The interior is air-conditioned, making it just the right spot for a break in the hot season.
