About this spot

The lawn plaza at Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Park is an open space ringed by bamboo, with an arbour and benches. There is no large dining hall in the park, so bringing a packed lunch and eating it on the lawn or in the arbour is the way to spend lunchtime here. When a breeze comes through the bamboo the felt temperature drops sharply, and even in midsummer you can sit comfortably in the shade. After eating, rest a while in the shade of the arbour, then change into swimwear and head for the Splash Pond, which makes for a well-balanced flow. There are also play features near the plaza, such as a slide that makes use of the sloping ground, so you can move about gently once your meal has settled.

京都市洛西竹林公園竹林広場（バンブーフィールド）じゃぶじゃぶ池は、竹に囲まれた広場に現れる無料の水遊び場です。池は足首くらいの深さなので、歩き始めたばかりの小さな子でも保護者と一緒に入って遊べます。2026年は7/1(水)〜9/30(水)のうち土曜・日曜・祝日に通水し、7/18(土)〜8/31(月)は水曜を除く毎日通水するので、夏休み中は平日でも計画が立てられます。広場には傾斜地形を活かした滑り台などの遊具、芝生広場、東屋がそろっていて、水から上がったあとの居場所に困りません。竹林が日差しをやわらげてくれるため、夏でも体力の消耗が抑えられるのがこの水遊び場の魅力です。

Tips

開園は9:00〜17:00で入園は16:00まで、毎週水曜と年末年始は休園です。入園も水遊びも無料ですが、更衣室の案内は出ていないため、水着は下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを用意すると着替えがスムーズです。園内は起伏があるので、濡れた足でのサンダル移動は滑らないよう注意してください。東屋やベンチは荷物置き場としても使えるので、着いたら先に休憩場所を決めておくと動きやすくなります。

Tips

Buying your lunch and drinks around Hankyu Rakusaiguchi Station or Katsura Station before you head over is the sure way to do it. Rubbish must be taken home, so bring plenty of plastic bags. The arbour and benches are limited in number, so on busy days a picnic sheet lets you make a space of your own. Avoid getting into the water straight after eating; waiting 20 to 30 minutes before changing is safer.
