This museum makes use of a Taisho-era mountain villa on the slopes of Mt. Tennozan, and is known for its garden surrounded by trees and the view from its terrace. Standing on the terrace, you can take in a panoramic view of the plain where the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu Rivers meet, making it visually clear why this land was such a strategic transportation hub. Inside, there is a cafe space where you can rest while enjoying drinks and light meals. The garden has a walking path, so it's also a good idea to take a short stroll after eating and enjoy the coolness of the shade. It makes for a good stop to rest quietly and build up your energy before the afternoon's water play.

Tips

Please check the admission fee, opening hours, and closed days on the official website in advance. There is a slope continuing from the station to the museum, so checking the schedule of the free shuttle bus makes it easier to get there even with children. Since the cafe mainly serves light meals, if you want a full meal, it's a good idea to eat lunch beforehand or bring a bento. The museum is a place for quiet viewing, so agree not to run around inside.

About 1 hour 30 minutes. You can spend the peak heat around noon among the trees.
