Suikeien Garden (水景園)

About this spot

The Japanese garden at the heart of Keihanna Commemorative Park, with a distinctive design combining a pond, terraced fields and a coppice wood. A large bridge crosses over the treetops inside the garden, giving you the rare experience of looking down on branches you would normally only look up at. The wind passes over the bridge, so it is a pleasant place to walk even in midsummer. There are carp and waterbirds in the pond, which naturally makes children stop and look. Admission is 220 yen for adults, 110 yen for primary and junior high school students and free for pre-school children, so it is no burden for a family.

けいはんな記念公園芝生広場のせせらぎは、棚田状に段の付いた芝生広場沿いを流れる浅瀬です。段差を伝って水が下っていく造りなので、上流から下流へ歩きながら遊べるのが他の水遊び場にはない面白さになっています。深いところがなく、歩き始めたばかりの子でも保護者と一緒に入っていけます。芝生広場の利用は無料で、例年夏に水遊びができ、2026年の通水期間は未公表です。子ども向けの遊具も近くにあるため、水から上がったあとの居場所に困らないのも家族連れには助かるところです。

Tips

開園は9:00〜17:00（入園は16:30まで）なので、帰りの時間は余裕をもって計画してください。通水の状況は年により変わるため、出発前に公園の案内で確認しておくと空振りを防げます。更衣室の案内は出ていないので、水着は下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを用意すると着替えがスムーズです。芝生の上を濡れた足で歩くと草が付くので、上がったらすぐ拭けるようタオルを近くに置いておきましょう。

Tips

The park is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission 16:30) and closed over the New Year period (12/28-1/4). The lawn plaza is free to use, so you can decide whether to enter Suikeien according to your energy on the day. The garden has slopes and stone steps, so walk it in comfortable shoes. When the sun is strong, choosing the paths under the trees rather than the bridge is more comfortable.
