Higashiyoka Coast Seablite Colony (東与賀海岸シチメンソウ群生地)

About this spot

A promenade overlooking the tidal flats of the Ariake Sea runs along the sea wall on the south side of Higata Yoka Park. Spreading out at your feet is a colony of seablite, a plant that grows in salty ground; in autumn it turns red and creates the scenery known as the autumn colors of the sea. At low tide, muddy flats appear filling the view ahead, and countless threads of water gleam like a pattern. Migratory birds gather over the flats with the seasons, and even children can follow the movement of the flocks from a distance. The walkway is flat with good visibility, making it well suited to walking hand in hand with a small child.

干潟よか公園じゃぶじゃぶ池は、夏は水着で楽しめる子どもプールとして開放される無料の水遊び場です。2026年は4月25日(土)から9月30日(水)までのオープンで、公園の営業時間である9:00〜17:00の間に遊べます。入園も水遊びも無料なので、天気のよい日に思い立って出かけられる気軽さが最大の魅力です。水に飽きたら大型複合遊具や舟型遊具「凌風丸」、芝生広場へ戻れて、体を乾かしながら何度でも池に戻れるのがこの公園のよいところ。すぐ南には有明海の干潟が広がっていて、水遊びのあいまに見上げる空の広さもこの場所ならではです。

Tips

休園日は月曜(祝日の場合は翌日)と年末年始なので、出かける曜日を必ず確認してください。閉園は17:00なので、16:45には水から上がって着替えと片づけの時間を確保しておくと慌てません。日陰は限られるため、レジャーシートやタープで休憩場所をつくると長く遊べます。ぬれた体は風で冷えやすいので、タオルは人数分より少し多めに持って行きましょう。

Tips

There is no shade, so always take a hat and drinks, and cut the visit short on hot days. The flats are deeper mud than they look, so agree with children not to go down from the sea wall or the promenade. At high tide the flats are hidden under water, so timing your visit to low tide using the tide table changes the view completely. Hats blow off easily on windy days, so one with a chin strap is safer.
