The Museum of Nature and Human Activities, Hyogo is a large natural-history museum in Yayoigaoka, Sanda City, known locally by its affectionate nickname Hitohaku. Dinosaur and fossil specimens and exhibits on the links between Hyogo's nature and human life spread across floor after floor, so children make one discovery after another simply by walking around. Talks by the researchers and hands-on programs are sometimes held too, making it a perfect place to look for ideas for a summer holiday research project. Being indoors and air-conditioned, it lets you spend the hours of strongest sun in comfort, which fits this day's plan well. Arimafuji Park is only about 10 minutes away by car.

兵庫県立有馬富士公園せせらぎ(ロックガーデン)は、パークセンター近くのロックガーデンのガーデン階段に水を流してつくられる、夏だけのごく浅いせせらぎです。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月27日(木)まで、10:00から16:00まで水が流されます。石を組んだ階段を伝って落ちる水にふれる遊び方なので、泳ぐのではなく、足をひたす・水をすくう・流れを追いかけるといった過ごし方になります。深さがほとんどないため、水に慣れていない小さな子や歩き始めたばかりの子でも安心して入れるのが大きな魅力です。料金は無料で、天候不良のときは中止になり、大雨などで開始日が変わる場合もあります。

Tips

シャワーと更衣室はないので、水着は服の下に着ていき、帰りはタオルで拭いて着替えるつもりで準備してください。石の上は水にぬれると滑るため、水遊び用サンダルかウォーターシューズを履かせ、走らないことを先に約束しておきましょう。ぬれた服を入れるビニール袋を人数分用意しておくと帰りが快適です。16:00に終わるので、遅くとも15時までには水に入っておくとしっかり遊べます。

Tips

Admission is a modest 200 yen for adults and free for high school students and younger (check the official website for closing days and current rates). The building is large, so deciding which floors to see in advance helps you use your time well. You can go around with a stroller, so it is comfortable even with a small child.
