Himawari-no-oka Park (ひまわりの丘公園) has a large playground area said to be one of the biggest in the Kansai region. It's equipped with long slides and net-like three-dimensional play structures, on a scale that can satisfy even elementary schoolers with energy to spare. Getting your body moving here before entering the fountain makes the feeling of the water even more refreshing once you're in. A lawn plaza sits right next to it too, so it's reassuring to be able to sit and rest while keeping an eye on your kids when you get tired. The fountain is just a short walk away, so deciding on a base for your belongings makes moving back and forth easy.

Tips

Since the play equipment is in direct sunlight, touch metal parts to check they aren't too hot before letting kids play. A hat and sunscreen are essential. It gets crowded on weekend afternoons, so deciding on a meeting spot beforehand reduces the worry of getting separated. Have kids hydrate as soon as they start sweating, and take a break before moving to the fountain.
