Hiraoka Park (平岡公園)

About this spot

This large park in Kiyota Ward is known for its plum grove in spring, but in summer the star is the walking route along the boardwalk laid across the wetland. Water flows beneath the boardwalk and the surrounding trees block the sun, so the air feels noticeably cooler than in the city. Because the route is fixed to the planks, even small children can keep to the path, which is reassuring. Looking for waterside creatures and wild flowers as you walk turns even a short distance into time for observation. Spreading out a picnic lunch on the shaded grass lets you enjoy the hours before the sun is at its strongest.

平岡南公園水遊び場は、札幌市清田区の平岡南公園に夏だけ現れる浅い水遊び場です。2026年は7月5日(日)から8月23日(日)まで、9:00〜17:00に開放され、利用は無料です。清田区の水遊び場は7月の第1日曜日から50日間という決まりで開くため、夏休みのあいだ何度でも通えるのがありがたいところ。水深が浅いので、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べます。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせるのが公園の水遊び場のよさです。午前に木道を歩いた足を、最後に冷たい水で休ませられるのもこの組み立てのよいところです。

Tips

開放は9:00〜17:00です。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになる日があるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚を必ず持っていってください。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩が楽になります。

Tips

The boardwalk is slippery when wet, so take extra care underfoot after rain. Insects are plentiful at this time of year, so repellent makes things more comfortable. The park is large, so choosing a car park close to the boardwalk section keeps the walking distance down. Shady spots for a picnic fill up before noon, so decide on your place early.
