Chiba Prefectural Boso no Mura

About this spot

This is a prefectural hands-on museum right next to Sakatagaike Comprehensive Park. A townscape of merchant houses from the Edo to Meiji periods has been recreated, and walking the streets feels like moving through time. What makes it interesting is that you can go inside the buildings and see the tools and the way business was done up close. Various hands-on programmes are held depending on the day, and taking part leaves you with memories made by your own hands. With dirt streets and wooden buildings continuing on, it also photographs beautifully. During the hours when the sun is strong, going in and out of the buildings as you tour will keep you from tiring.

成田市の坂田ヶ池総合公園にある、無料の水遊び場「坂田ヶ池総合公園龍の泉・渓流の径」です。吊り橋「龍の道」の下に、龍の頭を想わせる岩から水が湧き出る「龍の泉」があり、その水が流れていく水路が渓流の径になっています。造形に物語があるぶん、子どもは説明されなくても近づいていき、水がどこから来てどこへ行くのかを自然に追いかけ始めます。簡易プールの持ち込みはできません。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の開放となっているため、事前に公式の案内で確認してから向かってください。池を囲む森が木陰をつくるので、真夏でも休憩をはさみながら長く遊べます。

Tips

開設期間が未発表なので、必ず事前に確認してから出かけてください。簡易プールは持ち込めないので、遊び道具はバケツや水鉄砲など小物にしぼりましょう。岩と水路のまわりは足元がすべりやすいため、脱げにくいマリンシューズがあると安心です。森に囲まれているぶん蚊がいるので、虫よけを持っていくと快適です。

Tips

Closed on Mondays (the following weekday if Monday is a public holiday). Some hands-on programmes require a separate materials fee and advance application depending on the content, so check the official website before you go. The grounds are large, so comfortable shoes and drinks are essential. There are places where a pushchair is hard to move on the dirt paths.
