This is the municipal library inside Kino Wakayama, the mixed-use complex directly connected to Wakayamashi Station (和歌山市駅). The design is open and airy, and the children's floor is fully stocked with picture books. The building is air-conditioned, making it just the right place to spend the late morning hours as the sun grows strong. It is also an unusual library with an attached cafe, where you can choose a book with a drink in hand. Because you can even have lunch in the same building, families with small children can cut down on travel, which is a great help.

和歌山市の砂山公園に開設される、夏季限定の幼児プール「砂山公園幼児プール」です。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月12日(水)まで、午後1時から午後4時まで開設されます。対象は小学校就学前の幼児のみで、小学生以上は利用できません。保護者の同伴が必須で、水着の着用が必要です。水遊び用以外の紙おむつ・紙パンツでは利用できないため、おむつが取れていない子には水遊び用おむつを用意してください。料金は無料なので、子どもの様子を見ながら短時間で切り上げるという気軽な使い方ができます。

Tips

雨天等の気象状況により中止する場合があります。出発前に和歌山市の案内と当日の天気を確認しておくと安心です。公園に駐車場はないため、公共交通機関または近隣の有料駐車場を利用してください。午後1時の開設直後は比較的空いていることが多く、水に慣れていない子でも落ち着いて入れます。日差しの強い時間帯にあたるので、木陰での休憩と水分補給をこまめにはさみましょう。

Tips

Check opening hours and closed days on the official website in advance. It is a place to be quiet, so a word to small children beforehand makes things go smoothly. The floor layout lets you get around with a pushchair. A library card is needed to borrow books, so if you are only reading on the spot you can drop in empty-handed.
