About this spot

This is a mixed-use complex adjoining Wakayamashi Station (和歌山市駅), housing restaurants, shops and a library. It is the same building as the library, so after reading picture books you only have to change floors to have lunch, which is an advantage of this course. It is air-conditioned, so it also works as a place to cool down before and after walking outside. Ahead of the afternoon water play, it is reassuring to top up on towels, drinks and swim nappies here as well. Because it connects directly to the station, it also makes an easy base for families arriving by train.

Venue: 和歌山市・砂山公園

和歌山市の砂山公園に開設される、夏季限定の幼児プール「砂山公園幼児プール」です。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月12日(水)まで、午後1時から午後4時まで開設されます。対象は小学校就学前の幼児のみで、小学生以上は利用できません。保護者の同伴が必須で、水着の着用が必要です。水遊び用以外の紙おむつ・紙パンツでは利用できないため、おむつが取れていない子には水遊び用おむつを用意してください。料金は無料なので、子どもの様子を見ながら短時間で切り上げるという気軽な使い方ができます。

Tips

雨天等の気象状況により中止する場合があります。出発前に和歌山市の案内と当日の天気を確認しておくと安心です。公園に駐車場はないため、公共交通機関または近隣の有料駐車場を利用してください。午後1時の開設直後は比較的空いていることが多く、水に慣れていない子でも落ち着いて入れます。日差しの強い時間帯にあたるので、木陰での休憩と水分補給をこまめにはさみましょう。

Tips

Opening hours and closing days differ from shop to shop, so check in advance if there is a particular place you want. Restaurants are busy around noon on weekends and public holidays, so shifting to the latter half of the eleven o'clock hour makes it easier to get a table. To match the pool opening at one in the afternoon, starting to move by around twelve fifty at the latest gives you just the right timing.
