Kudoyama Sanada Museum

About this spot

A town-run museum in Kudoyama Town introducing the connection between the Sanada clan and this land. Through exhibits and film you can trace the history of how Sanada Masayuki and his son Yukimura lived here in Kudoyama after the Battle of Sekigahara. Many of the displays, such as red armour and banners, are easy to grasp at a glance, so the good thing is that even children who know nothing of history can start from 「that looks cool」. The building is air-conditioned, so it also works as a rest stop during the strongest sunlight. It is within walking distance of Jisonin Temple (慈尊院), and the walk itself is enjoyable as you take in the townscape.

橋本市高野口町名倉にある「せせらぎ公園噴水・流水」は、江戸時代に造られた小田井用水路の上部を有効利用して整備された親水公園です。ふだんは水路の上を歩ける散策路として使われていますが、橋本市公式は「毎年8月には、噴水や流水を行い、一時の涼を楽しめます」と紹介しており、夏には水の音とともに涼しさを味わえる場所になります。あずまや、ベンチ、トイレが整っているので、小さな子連れでも休憩をはさみながらゆっくり過ごせます。料金は無料なので、夕方に少しだけ涼みに立ち寄るという使い方もできます。用水路という土木の遺産がそのまま遊び場になっているという成り立ちも、この公園ならではの見どころです。

Please check opening hours, closed days and admission fees on the official website in advance. Nearby is Sanada-an (真田庵), also tied to the Sanada clan, so you can add it if time allows. Some streets in town are narrow, so if you come by car the town car park is the safe choice.
