Kawachi Otsukayama Kofun (河内大塚山古墳, Otsuka Imperial Mausoleum Reference Site)

About this spot

This is a huge keyhole-shaped burial mound straddling Matsubara City and Habikino City, known as one of the largest in Japan. You cannot enter the mound itself, but you can walk the outer perimeter along the moat, viewing the tree-covered hill as a whole from gradually changing angles. The sheer length of that perimeter, which seems to go on and on as you walk, is what makes you understand the scale of the kofun with your body, and that is the real appeal of this place. The surroundings are residential, and it is startling to find a monument of this size in the middle of an everyday landscape. Take in ancient Matsubara at a glance while you wait for the fountain to start.

新町南公園水景施設（噴水）は、松原市の新町南公園にある無料の水遊びスポットです。2026年のシーズンは5/1(金)〜10/31(土)で、7〜9月は10:00〜12:00と13:00〜16:00、5・6・10月は11:00〜12:00と13:00〜14:00の稼働となり、11〜4月は土日の11:00〜11:30のみになります。高く噴き上がる噴水は迫力があり、そばには日本庭園の流れもあるので、勢いのある水と静かな浅瀬を気分に合わせて選べるのがこの公園ならではの楽しさです。園内には大型遊具もそろっていて、体を乾かしながら遊具へ、また水へと行き来できます。駐車場がないため、電車や自転車で向かう前提の計画にしてください。料金は無料です。

Tips

駐車場がないので、近鉄南大阪線の駅から徒歩か自転車での来園が基本になります。噴水の稼働は月ごとに時間が決まっているため、出発前に松原市の案内で当日の時間を確認してください。7〜9月は昼休みをはさんで13:00〜16:00にも動くので、午前で切り上げず一度昼食に出て午後に戻る計画も立てられます。床面はぬれるとすべりやすいので、脱げにくい水遊び用サンダルが安心です。

Tips

Access is restricted as an imperial mausoleum reference site, so plan on viewing it from the perimeter road. The surrounding streets are local residential roads, so watch for cars and bicycles as you walk. There is little shade, so be sure to bring a hat and something to drink.
