A rest area attached to Nizawa Senzuka Tumulus Park with a view over the greenery. You can sit looking out at the grassy hills and the line of burial mounds, which makes it just right for setting up your base as soon as you arrive. It also suits opening a packed lunch, so you can eat calmly before the water play. Having somewhere out of the sun is a big reassurance when planning midsummer water play. Get changed and sort out your belongings here, then head for the Dragon Plaza.

「新沢千塚古墳群公園龍の広場(龍の池・龍の噴水)」は、古墳群の丘に囲まれた公園の中にある無料の水遊び場です。橿原市の公式案内によると、龍の噴水は8時から18時まで運転し、ミストの運転期間は5月から10月までとなっています。井戸水を使っているため水量は変動し、勢いよく出る日もあれば穏やかな日もあるという自然まかせの表情が魅力です。龍の広場では水遊びのほかに芝すべりや遊具でも遊べるので、水に飽きたら丘へ、丘に飽きたらまた水へと、子どもが自分のペースで一日を組み立てられます。園内には桜の広場や棚田の広場が広がり、歴史に憩う橿原市博物館やシルクの杜、OTENKIテラスも同じ敷地にそろっています。料金は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

清掃日は火曜・金曜で、清掃後は池に水が溜まるまで約半日かかります(雨天等により変更の場合あり)。この曜日に行く場合は午後遅めに合わせるか、別の日を選ぶと確実です。井戸水のため水量が日によって変わるので、噴水の勢いを期待しすぎず、ミストや芝すべりも含めて楽しむ計画にしておくと安心。芝すべりをするなら段ボールやヒップそりを持参し、遊んだあとは水道で足をよく洗ってから着替えましょう。
