About this spot

This rose garden is part of Awakigahara Forest Park Citizens' Forest, set within the pine grove of Hitotsuse. Roses of different varieties are lined up in well-tended flower beds, and simply reading the name tags as you walk makes for a small lesson in plants. Being surrounded by pines softens the strong sunlight, so it's relatively easy to walk through even on a midsummer morning. The paths are flat and easy to navigate with a stroller, with resting spots scattered along the way. This Citizens' Forest also manages the North Entrance Fountain Plaza you'll head to in the afternoon, so the day flows together as if moving within the same park.

Tips

The roses are mainly at their best in spring and autumn, so in summer it's best to visit with the mindset of enjoying the pine grove's green shade and wide paths rather than the flowers themselves. Even in the shade, humidity is high, so drink water frequently. This is a season with lots of insects, so applying insect repellent before you start walking makes for a more comfortable visit.
