About this spot

This is a seaside park along the Hitotsuse coast, representative of Miyazaki City. With a white sand beach, a wide lawn, and a pine grove stretching behind it, it's an ideal spot to spend time gazing at the sea. On this outing, rather than swimming, spend the time spreading a sheet in the shade of the pines to eat a bento and resting your body in the sea breeze. Children will be plenty satisfied just searching for shells at the water's edge or drawing pictures in the sand. The fountain plaza in the afternoon is only a short drive away, so lingering here longer won't throw off your schedule.

Tips

The periods and zones where swimming is allowed change from year to year, so if you go into the water, be sure to follow the on-site signage. The beach gets very strong sunlight with harsh glare reflecting off the sand, so be sure to take breaks in the shade of the trees. Checking the location of a faucet for rinsing off sand beforehand makes cleanup easier before getting back in the car.

Best time to visit

About 1.5 hours. At midday, it's comfortable to secure a spot in the shade of the pines before eating.
