About this spot

This is a facility themed on picture books, located in Oshima, Imizu City. Books from Japan and abroad are arranged so you can pick them up freely: children find one they like and settle down with it, while adults stop in their tracks at a nostalgic cover. Exhibitions of original artwork and special shows about picture books are held from time to time, and the charm is that it shows a different face on each visit. A workshop and a shop are attached, and on some days there are hands-on activities. Being indoors, it is just the right place for a leisurely morning before the sun grows strong.

Tips

Please check opening days, fees and whether hands-on programmes are running on the official website in advance. During a popular special exhibition, the car park can become crowded. The interior is a place to be quiet, so a word to small children beforehand makes things go smoothly. Taikoyama Land is a short drive away.

About 1 hour 20 minutes. The quiet stretch right after opening is the most comfortable
