This is a large shopping mall right next to Shin-Takaoka Station. It is within walking distance of Shin-Takaoka Station South Exit Park with its waterside area, so getting lunch and shopping done here in one go is the efficient way to move. There is both a food court and restaurants, so everyone can pick what they want even when children's tastes differ. The air-conditioned interior is just right for cooling down after walking outdoors, letting everyone rest up for the afternoon in the water. Towels, spare clothes, sunscreen, drinks and other water-play gear can all be bought here as well.

「新高岡駅南口公園親水エリア」は、高岡市の新高岡駅南口公園にある無料の水遊び場です。高岡市公式には「公園内には、せせらぎが流れており、庄川が飛騨の上流から日本海に流れる様を表現」「下流域の親水エリアでは、庄川産玉石を使用し、子供達が水にふれあうことができる空間になっています」と記されています。上流から下流へと流れをたどりながら歩けるので、川がどう海へ向かうのかを体で覚えられる、ほかにはない造りです。面積は約0.6haの街区公園で遊具はありませんが、そのぶん水と石だけに集中して遊べます。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏場にせせらぎへ通水されます。新幹線の駅前という立地なので、電車で来ても車で来ても動きやすいのが大きな利点です。

Tips

通水の時期は未発表なので、訪れる前に高岡市へ確認するか、公園の掲示で当日の状況を確かめてください。庄川産の玉石は濡れると滑りやすく、素足では痛いこともあるため、マリンシューズなど足を守れる履き物を用意しましょう。遊具のない公園なので、水遊びのあとの時間つぶしには近くのモールを組み合わせると調整しやすくなります。着替えの場所は限られるので、タオルポンチョがあると便利です。日陰が多くないため、こまめな水分補給と休憩を心がけてください。

Tips

The noon hour is crowded on weekends and holidays, so shifting to late morning or after 13:00 makes it easier to get a table. Buying plenty of plastic bags for wet clothes makes the trip home easier. If you are using Shin-Takaoka Station, checking where the coin lockers are in advance saves you carrying luggage around.
