The Miyazaki / Sakai Coast in Asahi Town is known as the Jade Coast because jade is mixed in among the stones washed ashore. The beach is covered not with sand but with rounded stones, and time spent picking them up while listening to the waves absorbs children and adults alike. Whether you find jade is down to luck, but even without it there are endless stones with interesting colours and shapes. The scenery, with mountain ranges visible in the distance, is beautiful too, and simply gazing at the sea makes the trip worthwhile. It is a different way of meeting natural water from the water play that closes the day.

「あさひ未来パークじゃぶじゃぶ池」は、朝日町の泊駅南に整備された新しい公園「あさひ未来パーク」にある水遊び場です。遊具広場は2026年5月2日に部分開園したばかりで、屋根付きの大型遊具が児童用・幼児用・乳幼児用の3エリアに分けられているのが大きな特徴です。屋根があるおかげで真夏でも遊具が熱くなりすぎず、日差しを避けながら遊べるのは新しい公園ならではの造りといえます。年齢別にエリアが分かれているので、きょうだいの年が離れていても安心して見ていられます。じゃぶじゃぶ池の通水期間は町公式に記載がないため、訪れる前に確認しておくのが確実です。町公式は「じゃぶじゃぶ池の注意事項」として、滑りやすいので走らないよう案内しています。

町公式が「滑りやすいので走らない」と案内しています。遊ぶ前に必ず子どもと約束しておきましょう。じゃぶじゃぶ池の通水期間と利用料金は町公式に記載がないため、訪れる前に朝日町へ確認してください。開園して間もない公園なので、設備や利用ルールが変わることがあります。現地の掲示も見ておくと安心です。泊駅の南側にあるので、電車で訪れることもできます。30分に一度は水から上がって水分を取り、日陰で休憩をはさみながら遊んでください。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意しましょう。

Tips

The stone beach is hard to walk on and painful barefoot, so always wear shoes. The water's edge drops away suddenly in places, so if you plan to swim be sure to check the designated swimming areas and season, and never take your eyes off small children. There is no shade, so a hat and drinks are essential. Stones get heavy once they are in a bag, so deciding how many to take home makes the journey back easier.
