Rurikoji Temple Five-Storied Pagoda (瑠璃光寺五重塔)

About this spot

A five-storied pagoda designated a national treasure, standing in Kozan Park (香山公園) in Kozan-cho, Yamaguchi City. The pagoda reflected in the pond is one of the landscapes that represent Yamaguchi, and even children who have seen it in photos are surprised by its real size. The park is laid out so that it wraps around the pagoda, and you can see it all in a short time while resting on benches in the shade. Even at an age when historical explanations are too difficult, simply saying that it is one of the oldest buildings in Japan changes the way a child looks up at it. It is about a 10-minute drive from Ishin Hyakunen Memorial Park, and stopping by in the morning leaves plenty of room in the afternoon schedule.

山口市の維新百年記念公園にある無料のじゃぶじゃぶ池「維新百年記念公園いこいの水広場」です。2026年(令和8年)は4月25日(土)から9月27日(日)まで、10:00〜18:00に開設されます。いちばんの人気は水の流れるすべり台(ウォータースベリ)で、順番待ちの列ができるほど子どもたちが何度も繰り返しすべります。小さな噴水もあり、まだすべり台が早い年齢の子は噴水のまわりでぱしゃぱしゃと遊べます。スロープで水辺まで下りられるバリアフリー設計なので、ベビーカーや車いすでも水際まで近づけるのが大きな特徴です。隣接する大型遊具広場と児童センターを行き来しながら、休憩をはさんで長く過ごせます。

Tips

金曜日の午前中は清掃のため利用できません。大雨など悪天候時も利用中止になるので、出発前に公式サイトで当日の開設状況を確認してください。ペット・自転車・スケートボードは持ち込み不可です。日陰は限られるので、木陰にレジャーシートを敷いて休憩をはさみましょう。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意し、遊んだあとは水道で足元をよく流してください。

Tips

Walking the grounds is free, but the area open to visitors can change due to preservation work or events, so check the official information before you go. There is gravel and there are steps in the grounds, making some spots hard to push a stroller. There is plenty of shade, but bring your own drinks. A free city-run parking lot is nearby.
