A prefectural general museum in Kasuga-cho, Yamaguchi City, where you can learn about the nature and science of Yamaguchi Prefecture all in one place. Displays on geology and fossils, the prefecture's plants and animals, and science and technology are lined up, and children naturally stop in front of the large specimens. There is also a planetarium, and timing your visit with a projection makes a fitting finish to the morning. The exhibition rooms are compactly arranged, so even small children can make a full round while their concentration lasts. Take it slow in the air-conditioned halls and save energy for the afternoon water play.

Tips

The permanent exhibition and the planetarium have separate fees. Check opening days, admission and the projection schedule on the official website in advance. There is enough room to go around with a stroller, but the exhibition rooms are quiet, so a gentle reminder to look quietly before you enter makes things smoother. It is about a 10-minute drive from Ishin Hyakunen Memorial Park.
