Nogihama Park Wild Bird Observatory (乃木浜公園野鳥観察所)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This facility inside Nogihama Sogo Park is made for quietly observing waterside birds. A reed-grown wetland spreads out in front of you, and various birds stop to rest there with each season. Slipping a quiet stretch of hushed bird-searching in after all the running around switches children's mood naturally. Comparing the names of the birds you spot with a field guide as a family can also spark a summer holiday research project. After observing, spread a picnic sheet on the neighboring lawn plaza and take a leisurely lunch from the food you brought.

Tips

Binoculars make a big difference to how much fun the observation is. Loud voices and sudden movements startle the birds, so keep them to a minimum. The lawn plaza has little shade, so checking where the tree shade falls before laying out your sheet is more comfortable. There may not be a place to eat inside the park, so preparing a packed lunch and drinks in advance is reassuring.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 5 minutes. The late morning, when bird movement is easy to see, is recommended
