Tejikarao Shrine (手力雄神社)

About this spot

This ancient shrine stands in the Nagamori area of Gifu City and is widely known for the spirited Tejikara Fire Festival held every spring. The precinct is surrounded by trees, so there is plenty of shade even in summer and the atmosphere stays calm. Telling children about the festival, where sparks fly through the air, is a fine way to introduce them to local tradition. It is within walking distance of Kutsukake Park, which makes it an easy starting point for the day. A visit takes about 30 minutes, so the morning hours are used pleasantly.

岐阜市長森北地区の沓掛公園(長森本町1丁目9)にある、無料で利用できる水遊び場「沓掛公園徒渉池(児童用プール)」です。2026年は7月21日から8月9日までのうち計19日間、13時から16時まで開設されます。水深が浅いので、まだ泳げない小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩きながら水に親しめます。対象は原則として小学3年生以下で、未就学児は保護者同伴、おむつのとれない幼児は利用できません。開設日は岐阜市の日程表のとおりで、悪天候のときは赤旗が掲げられて中止になります。地元の子どもたちが集まる場所なので、地域の夏の空気をそのまま味わえます。

Tips

利用は無料です。当日の実施可否は現地の旗で確認できます(赤旗は中止の合図)。水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズです。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと多めの飲み物を持参しましょう。16時終了なので、15時45分ごろには片づけを始めてください。

Tips

Visiting is free. Parts of the precinct are gravel paths, so a baby carrier is often easier to manage than a stroller. Office hours at the shrine reception vary by day, so check in advance if you want a goshuin seal stamp. Mosquitoes can appear in summer, so insect repellent is reassuring.
