About this spot

The municipal library of Takayama City, recognizable by its white building modeled on a Meiji-era Western-style schoolhouse. Inside there is a children's book corner with a wide range from picture books to longer reading. Materials on Hida and a modern literature museum are also housed here, making it worth a look for adults too. It is just the right place to reset the fatigue of a morning on foot in a quiet space. Build it in as time to restore energy for the water play in the afternoon. Looking for a picture book of old Hida folk tales and touching on the stories of this land is also recommended.

高山市の赤保木公園にある無料の水遊び場「赤保木公園水遊び場」です。2026年は5月1日(金)から7月12日(日)まで開かれ、初夏から梅雨明け前の季節に活躍します。もともと幼児用プールだった場所の水深を浅くした水辺空間で、水着の着用が不要なのがいちばんの特徴。普段着のまま足をひたして遊べるので、着替えの準備を大げさに考えなくてよいのが助かります。水鉄砲などのおもちゃを持ち込んで自由に遊べるため、家から好きな道具を持っていくと遊びの幅が広がります。飛騨の初夏は日差しがあっても空気が乾いていて過ごしやすく、水にぬれても体が冷えすぎないちょうどよい季節です。

Tips

開設は7月12日(日)までです。7月18日(土)から9月6日(日)は隣接の高山市民プール(有料)が開設されるので、夏休みに訪れる場合はそちらを利用する計画に切り替えてください。水着は不要ですが、濡れてもよい服装と着替えは必ず用意しましょう。足元を守る水遊び用サンダルがあると安心です。開設時間は市の案内で確認してください。5月や6月は水が冷たく感じる日もあるので、上着とタオルを多めに持っていくと快適です。

Eating and drinking are allowed only in designated areas. Leaving your water play gear in the car keeps you unencumbered as you look around.
