About this spot

A children's plaza inside Kasaoka Kodai-no-Oka Sports Park lined with large dinosaur-themed play equipment. Children get a huge thrill from the fact that the equipment itself is a dinosaur you can play on — scramble up the body of a tall dinosaur, slide down its tail. Coming after a morning walking among burial mounds, the ancient theme carries through and fires the imagination, which is unique to this course. A covered rest area and benches sit beside the plaza, so there is no trouble finding a spot to lay out lunch. The park also has a campground with 13 sites, a baseball field and sports grounds, and the grounds as a whole are laid out on a generous scale.

笠岡市の「かさおか古代の丘スポーツ公園ふれあい広場ウェーブ噴水」は、遊びの要素を取り入れて造られた無料の水遊びスポットです。広場の中心に据えられたオブジェを円形に囲むように水柱が並び、順番に上下していく動きが波のように見えることからウェーブ噴水と呼ばれています。上がるタイミングを読んで走り抜けたり、わざと真下で待って浴びたりと、遊び方を子ども自身が発明していくのがこの噴水の楽しいところ。夜間照明が付いているので、日が落ちてからの表情も知られています。すぐそばには恐竜の大型遊具のある子ども広場があるので、水に飽きたら遊具へと切り替えられます。噴水の稼働は10:00〜16:00です。

Tips

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。例年は夏休み期間なので、出発前に笠岡市の案内で当日水が出るかを確認してください。噴水の稼働は16:00までなので、遅い到着にならないよう時間に余裕をもって向かいましょう。広場の床は濡れるとすべりやすいため、走らないよう声をかけ、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズを履かせてください。日陰が少ないので、こまめに屋根付き休憩所へ戻って水分をとりましょう。着替えとタオル、濡れた服を入れるビニール袋は人数分そろえておくと帰りが楽です。

Tips

Metal parts of the equipment can get hot under the midsummer sun, so touch them to check before letting children play. Shade is limited to the covered rest area and the stand of trees, so a picnic sheet makes breaks much easier. Do not assume there are food outlets in the park — bring your own lunch and drinks. As a rule, take your rubbish home with you. Entering the water right after eating puts a strain on the body, so leaving about 30 minutes before heading to the fountain sets a comfortable pace.
