About this spot

Mount Fudekage, rising behind the Sunami district of Mihara, is known as a vantage point over the island-studded beauty of the Seto Inland Sea. From the observation deck near the summit, a distinctive view unfolds of island after island overlapping, and you could watch the ships passing among them forever. You can drive almost all the way to the summit, which makes it an easy visit even with small children. Seeing the water from above also makes it much clearer where the seaside park you will play at later sits. Among the trees the breeze is cooler than in town, so it is a good place for a rest as well.

三原市すなみ海浜公園水遊び場(噴水)は、2026年は7月11日(土)から8月23日(日)まで、9:00〜17:00に開設されます。水深は約10cmと浅く、噴水が出るので、水に慣れていない小さな子でも自分のペースで遊べます。隣には水深50cmと70cmの幼児プールが同時に開設され、小さな滑り台もついているため、きょうだいで年齢に合わせた遊び方を選べるのがうれしいところ。すなみ海浜公園は砂浜までスロープを設けたバリアフリー公園なので、ベビーカーでの移動もしやすい造りです。海のすぐそばという立地で、潮風を感じながら水遊びできるのがこの場所ならではの魅力。夕方まで開いているので、日差しがやわらぐ時間まで長く過ごせます。

Tips

料金については公式の案内で確認してください。開設は7月11日(土)〜8月23日(日)の9:00〜17:00です。隣の幼児プールは水深50cm・70cmと水遊び場より深いので、必ず保護者が付き添ってください。着替えの設備については事前に三原市の案内で確認しておくと安心です。海辺で日差しが強いため、日焼け止めはこまめに塗り直しを。濡れた床は滑りやすいので、走らないよう声をかけましょう。

Tips

Sections of the road to the summit are narrow, so drive slowly and watch for oncoming cars. There is no shop at the observation deck, so bring your own drinks. There are many insects in summer, so repellent makes the visit more comfortable. The clearer the weather, the sharper the silhouettes of the islands, so do try to stop by on a sunny day.
