Hiroshima City Forest Park is a large, free-to-enter park spreading across the mountains of Higashi Ward in Hiroshima City. Inside are rest areas with shade, tables and chairs, making them just right for laying out a packed lunch. Thanks to the elevation, the breeze is cooler than in the city centre, and stepping under the trees feels far more comfortable. There is also shade with tables and chairs right beside the Jabu-Jabu Stream, handy as a spot to leave your belongings. After eating, rest a while and let your body settle before heading off for the water play.

ひろしま遊学の森広島市森林公園ジャブジャブ川は、緑と岩でつくられた浅い流れの水遊び場です。コンクリートで固めたプールとは違い、木立の中を流れる小川のような姿なので、水に入るだけで山の中を探検している気分になれます。水は浅く流れもおだやかで、小さな子でも足をひたして遊べるのが安心なところ。近くに木陰とテーブル・イスがあり、荷物を置いて交代で休みながら長く過ごせます。入園は無料で水遊びにもお金はかからないため、気軽に何度でも足を運べる夏の定番です。石の下をのぞけば小さな生きものが見つかることもあり、自由研究のきっかけにもなります。

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。出発前に公式サイトで開設状況を確認してください。雨の後など川の流量が多い場合は利用できません。前日までの天気も合わせてチェックしましょう。川底には石があるため、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズが必須です。着替えの場所が限られるので、水着を服の下に着ていくとスムーズ。山あいで日が陰るのが早いので、夕方は体が冷える前に切り上げてください。

Tips

There are only limited places to buy food inside the park, so bringing your own lunch and drinks is the safe choice. Tables are limited in number, so secure one early on busy days. As a rule, take your rubbish home with you. Being a mountain park, there are mosquitoes and horseflies, so applying insect repellent before sitting down makes for a more pleasant stay.
