Miya no Mori / Kibajo Park (宮のもり・木場城公園)

About this spot

This is Kiba Fort (木場砦), inside Miya no Mori / Kibajo Park and the origin of the park's name. From this slight rise on the otherwise flat Niigata Plain, you can look out over the Jabu-Jabu Pond and Wanpaku Plaza within the grounds. Strangely enough, once you hear that a fortified residence once stood here, even a simple grassy mound starts to look different. Climb up high first and talk with your children about where to play today; that flow becomes a natural run-up to the afternoon in the water. Catch your breath on a bench in the shade and you can also let the strongest sunshine pass.

宮のもり・木場城公園ジャブジャブ池は、新潟市西区の近隣公園にある無料の水遊び場です。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏季に開かれています。浅い池なので小さな子どもでも安心して入れ、水を掛け合ったり座り込んだりと思い思いに遊べます。池のそばにはせせらぎ水路が流れ、水の道をたどって歩くだけでも子どもは夢中になります。近くのとんぼ池では生きものを探せ、体を乾かしたければわんぱく広場の滑り台やピクニック広場へ移動と、遊びの切り替えがしやすいのがこの公園の良さです。8,952平方メートルの敷地は歩いて回れる広さで、家族連れが1日を過ごすのにちょうどよいスケールです。

Tips

開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に新潟市の公式ページで当年の開設状況を必ず確認してください。天候や水の管理状況によって遊べない日があります。池の底は滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズを履かせると安全です。更衣室があるとは限らないため、上から羽織れるタオルや簡易ポンチョを用意しておくと着替えに困りません。日陰が限られるので、日よけになるものと飲み物は多めに持っていきましょう。

Tips

The grass can be long in summer, so wear shoes that are easy to walk in for the climb. There is little shade, so it is best to keep the stop short rather than linger. The Jabu-Jabu Pond is a short walk away within the park, so getting your change of clothes ready here makes the move smooth.
