Shinagawa-ura Boat Basin (品川浦船溜り)

About this spot

A small inlet remaining in one corner of Kita-Shinagawa, where pleasure boats and fishing boats are moored. High-rise buildings stand immediately behind, creating a curious scene in which the mood of an old fishing town and the modern cityscape fit into a single frame. Coming here makes it real that Shinagawa was once a fishing town facing the sea. The waterside promenade is short, so this is a place to stop and take in the view rather than to stroll. Kodomo no Mori Park and the Old Tokaido are both just a short walk away.

子供の森公園水のモニュメント（シャワー水遊び）は、品川区の子供の森公園にある無料の水遊びスポットです。高さの違うカラフルな3本のパイプが立っていて、1日6回、各15分間シャワーが噴き出します。時間になると子どもたちが一斉に集まってくるので、噴き出す瞬間の歓声そのものがこの公園の夏の風物詩になっています。園内には恐竜の像が8体置かれていて、通称「かいじゅう公園」として地域に親しまれています。シャワーの待ち時間は恐竜像のまわりを探検したり遊具で遊んだりできるので、退屈しません。プールのように水につかる場所ではないため、水が苦手な子でも参加しやすいのが特徴です。

Tips

区の公式ページに稼働期間の明記はなく、7/1から9/30頃までというのは例年の運用にもとづく目安です。出発前に品川区の公式ページで稼働状況を確認してください。シャワーは1日6回・各15分なので、到着したらまず噴射の時間を現地の掲示で確かめましょう。シャワーを浴びると衣服はしっかりぬれるので、着替えとタオルは人数分用意してください。待ち時間は日差しを浴び続けることになるため、帽子と飲み物を忘れずに。

Tips

Some parts of the waterside have low railings, so keep an eye on children. There is almost no shade, so in midsummer it is wise to keep the visit short. The pleasure boats are working vessels, so follow the posted guidance regarding access to the landings. The light is less likely to be against you in the evening, but mornings suit photography better.
