Next stop: Island water play until evening in a two-pool facilityAbout this spot
A beautiful beach on the eastern side of Kaminokamagari Island, selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches. White sand and clear, shallow water stretch along the shore, creating scenery so tropical it hardly feels like the Seto Inland Sea. The area around it has hot spring facilities and places to eat, making it convenient to stop for lunch or a rest. This spot is also known as a place where mo-shio (seaweed salt) was made in ancient times, and you can learn about the history of salt-making at related facilities nearby. On a day when the pool is planned for the afternoon, it's best to just enjoy strolling and viewing the beach so you can save your energy.
Tips
It's about a 15-minute drive from Shimokamagari Island, crossing the Kamagari Bridge. If you plan to swim in the sea, you'll need a separate change of clothes and towel, so on a day when the pool is the main event, it's best to stick to just strolling around. There's little shade, so bring a hat and something to drink. The pool is about a 20-minute drive away.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 10 minutes. Combining it with lunch makes efficient use of your time
