Otomeza (乙女座)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A cultural facility in the Kinoe district of Osakikamijima, reconstructed from a theater built in the early Showa era. Kinoe once thrived as a port of call for ships traveling the Seto Inland Sea, its streets lined with inns and shops catering to sailors. That prosperity is reflected in the rows of three-story wooden houses still standing along the street. Otomeza was a beloved entertainment venue of that era, and stepping inside, you can still feel the stage and audience seating much as they were. It's a valuable place where you can learn, through the building itself, just how lively this port town once was.

Tips

Please check opening days, hours, and admission fees via Osakikamijima Town's information. The surrounding streets are narrow, so park in the designated lot and walk. Many of the buildings are still lived in, so please be considerate when taking photos.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Before noon, when the sun is strong, viewing indoors feels pleasantly cool.
