About this spot

A shrine that has long been revered as the third shrine of Sagami Province. Jomon- and Kofun-period ruins are scattered around the area, showing that this place has long been a center of human life. The shrine grounds are quiet and surrounded by trees, filled with cool air in the morning. The local history museum on the grounds displays excavated pottery and other artifacts, letting you get a sense of the region's history. It's not a bustling tourist spot, so you can pay your respects quietly, which is one of this shrine's virtues. It's a fitting place to gather your thoughts at the start of your trip.

Tips

Visiting the shrine is free. The grounds are covered in gravel, which makes strollers hard to push, so a baby carrier makes it easier to get around. There is a parking lot. Mosquitoes appear in summer, so insect repellent helps keep things comfortable. Please be quiet on the shrine grounds.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. Fewer people are around in the morning, so you can slowly enjoy the coolness of the trees.
