About this spot

A large park in the center of Hiratsuka City combining sports facilities and green space. Popular with children is the petting zoo, which has a pony-leading corner and a chance to interact with guinea pigs and rabbits, and it's all free. The park also has large play equipment, a wide lawn plaza, and a Japanese garden scattered throughout, and the tree-lined paths make it easy to walk even in summer. A mini train runs on some days, which will satisfy vehicle-loving kids too. It's an open, spacious park, just right for getting some exercise before the pool.

Tips

The petting zoo has set opening days and hours, so check in advance before heading over. Always wash your hands after touching the animals. The park is large, so it's a good idea to decide where you're headed before you start walking. Parking may require a fee.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the morning the animals are more active, and the park is relatively uncrowded.
