Oiso Station (大磯駅)
Flow of the course
About this spot
JR Oiso Station on the Tokaido Line is the gateway to Oiso, known as the birthplace of Shonan, where Japan's first seaside bathing resort opened during the Meiji era. The small triangular-roofed station building has real character, and the road leading from the station toward the sea still carries traces of the town's days as a villa resort. Oiso Port is about a 15-minute walk away. To reach Oiso Joyama Park, it's convenient to take a bus from in front of the station and get off at Joyama Koen-mae.
Tips
The parking lot at Joyama Park tends to get crowded on weekends during the autumn leaf season, so consider using the train and bus instead. It's also reassuring to check the return bus schedule in advance.
