About this spot
An old Rinzai-school temple a few minutes' walk from Kita-Kamakura Station, down a small path along the railway tracks. Once known as a 'divorce temple' that took in women seeking refuge, its grounds are carefully planted with seasonal flowers and plants. Autumn leaves in Kamakura city are usually at their best from late November to early December, and the mountain-embraced grounds let you savor the quiet air of late autumn. The temple does not charge an admission fee, but officially asks visitors to be sure to pray at the main hall and make an offering instead.
