About this spot

Founded during the Genna era in the early Edo period, this shrine is said to be the origin of the name Isehara. It enshrines Amaterasu Omikami and Toyouke-hime no Okami, and is notable for its two-shrine layout, an Inner Shrine and an Outer Shrine, modeled after the Ise Grand Shrine. About a 10-minute walk from Isehara Station (伊勢原駅), it lets you touch the very origin of the town's history.

Tips

It's customary to pay your respects at both shrine buildings in order. It's conveniently located on the way to the science museum.
