Odawara Literature Museum (小田原文学館)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This museum, housed in a Western-style building originally built as the villa of Count Tanaka Mitsuaki, a former Minister of the Imperial Household, is the climax of the day. It displays materials on writers deeply connected to Odawara, and the garden and the building itself are also well worth seeing. The Hakushu Children's Song Museum (白秋童謡館) on the same grounds lets you experience the world of Kitahara Hakushu, who wrote many nursery rhymes while living in Odawara. The moment children recognize a familiar song, such as Yurikago no Uta (Cradle Song), among the exhibits is the biggest highlight of this course.
