About this spot

A garden developed on a hill that housed the Italian consulate in the Meiji era, with autumn foliage typically at its best for a long stretch from mid-November to mid-December. The golden foliage of the dawn redwoods and ginkgo trees stands out beautifully against the geometrically arranged water features and flower beds of this Italian-style garden. The white Western-style buildings within the garden — the Diplomat's House (外交官の家) and Bluff No. 18 (ブラフ18番館) — are both free to enter, and viewing the autumn leaves from their classic interiors is a special experience. From the elevated ground, you can also enjoy views toward Minato Mirai (みなとみらい).
