About this spot

This is the observation room on the 10th floor of the tower building of 《Kawasaki Marien》(川崎マリエン), the Kawasaki City Port and Harbor Promotion Hall (川崎市港湾振興会館). It is open 9:00-21:00 (last entry 20:30), free of charge (parking is paid), and closed December 29-January 3 as well as on occasional temporary closure days. A 360-degree view unfolds high above the ground, and after sunset, orange lights come on across the Keihin Industrial Zone (京浜工業地帯) below, letting you leisurely enjoy the factory night view overlapping with the lights of ships on Tokyo Bay (東京湾) from indoors.

Tips

Since it is indoors, it is comfortable even on cold or rainy days. To reduce reflections on the window glass, the trick is to get close to the window when taking photos. There are occasional temporary closure days, so please check the official website for the current opening status.

Best time to visit

Around sunset. The dusk hour, when the factory lights start coming on, is the most photogenic time.
