About this spot

An ancient temple known as the birthplace of the lucky daruma doll, the Takasaki Daruma. The Reifudo Hall (霊符堂) of the main temple is lined with an impressive array of large and small daruma dolls dedicated with wishes. The Darumado Hall also displays a collection of daruma from around the country. It's a great idea for the family to choose a new daruma together and paint in one eye to make a wish.

Tips

The stone steps from the main gate are long, so families with small children may find the upper parking lot near the main hall more convenient. Reserve in advance for the daruma painting experience.

Best time to visit

Allow 60-90 minutes. Early morning is recommended for a quieter visit.
